Yesss, I am fascinated by Noatak’s connection to his element and the way he reflects it and relates to it and is so much a waterbender regardless of whether he’s bending or not, and … all the things. And particularly in opposition to firebenders, where our last villains were power-mad firebenders, and of course fire is the element of power, while water is the element of change and the violent, broken revolutionary turns out to be a waterbender gone terribly wrong. (In some ways, he seems like a very dark version of Katara in “The Painted Lady,” down to his followers’ response.)
tl;dr: awesome fic, love the way he conceives of water vs. fire and his twisted relationship with his bending.
